January 27, 2009: I received the offical word from Tops this morning, they discontinued selling the Tim Horton’s peanut muffins and donuts in the carry out cafe. However, they are utilizing the remaining inventory first.
Any Tim’s donuts & muffins they do sell will be baked in the bakery.
Thank you all for your help!!! We achieved a Victory!!!!

Just this week I heard a rumor they have halted the sale of peanut donuts & moved the donuts themselves into the bakery area. Awaiting a call from Tops Corporate to confirm!
I received a call from Tops about 2 weeks after my email and about 3weeks ago now, they plan to renegotiate the deal with Tim Horton’s. Either they will stop selling peanut donuts or they will prepare them in an enclosed area. I asked them to please keep me apprised of the results. No update has yet to be provided.
It has come to our attention, Tops has partnered with Tim Horton’s to provide Tim’s donuts in their Carry Out Cafe’s.

Cafe employees will remove frozen donuts – including peanut, from boxes and place them on carry out cafe bakware. Load them on trays & transport them to the bakery. They will return them to the carry out cafe for glaze & dip into nuts, coconut, etc. Finally, display them in the cafe for sale & continued handling.

So far the only cross contamination safety measure is, they will be transporting/baking the peanut donuts on the bottom shelf. In the event any nuts fall they will fall to the bottom of the oven/floor rather than into another pan.

They also cook the rotisserie chickens, pizza, subs and other foods in that area.

Please be aware of possible cross contamination!

We will be contacting Tops regarding our concerns with this idea…please do the same!!!
