NYS Maple Weekend
Last year we were looking for something to do on a sunny, cold, March day and came across Maple Weekend. Two weekends per year the maple syrup producers across the state open their facilities to guests for FREE to come experience the making of maple syrup!
We arrived at a local producer not far from our home, there was a big tractor sitting out front and our kids LOVE tractors. To our dismay, maple syrup covered peanuts is a delicacy. Do not be discouraged, I just stumbled across a producer who does not cover peanuts but hot dogs with maple syrup!!!
If you are looking for something exciting and educational to do with your kids this weekend, visit Benz’s Maple Products for a tour of their facility. They will take guests through their sugarhouse and demonstrate how the machines work to filter the syrup to produce syrup and candy, then they will move to the kitchen for samples and purchasing of: MAPLE… jelly, cream, sugar, syrup, mustard, milkshakes, hotdogs and lollipops.
Benz’s Maple Products 716.432.2377 is open March 21-22 and 28-29 from 10-4. They are located at 12939 Van Slyke Road, East Concord, NY 14055.
Have a great time!
