Allergy Resources
Where can I go with my food allergic toddler in Buffalo?
Once diagnosed, we remained in the house for what seemed like an eternity!! Then we found a local meetup group & realized, there were all kinds of places to go with a toddler AND even some allergy friendly places!!!!
My best advice would be to pick up a WNY Family from the local library or Supermarket. They have a monthly events calendar and many advertisers looking for families with toddlers!!!
Many of these places double as great Birthday Party venues too!!! The owners are all very accommodating!!! It’s nice to know they are out there!!!
We have several places we LOVE to visit….
Our first favorite place is TODDLE TOWN – every toy a child could ever dream of playing with all under one roof! http://toddletownandmore.parks.officelive.com/default.aspx There is a small PEANUT FREE eating area fenced off from the play area. Amy has been great with my family. She is very accommodating!!! Please visit her!!!!
The Toy Town Museum, next door to The Fisher-Price Toy Store, http://www.toytownusa.com/ There is no eating in the museum or play room. It’s FREE! They have odd hours during the week, however with a $25 annual membership there are morning hours!!
Gymnastics Unlimited http://www.gymnastics-unlimited.net/ has a great open play time from 12-1 on Wednesday & Thursday! $7 per child, but it’s fun for mom too!!! It’s unfortunate it’s not at 11am, but it’s worth keeping the kids up!!! No food allowed in the gym & they do birthday parties (you can bring your own food to a small corner of the gym away from the equipment)!!!!
Children in Action http://www.childreninactiongym.com/pageDisplay.jsp?pageid=8980 Also food free! They have tumbling, singing, dancing, and bubble time!! They accommodate morning playgroups!
B is for Books http://www.bis4books.com/ has toddler story & craft hour. It’s probably a good idea to call ahead about the craft, however they have been really cute!!! Barnes & Noble in the McKinley Mall also has a toddler story time…and add in a mall walk for exercise!
The McDonalds in East Aurora has an enclosed play place – no food allowed.
We have yet to try Explore & More or Bounce Magic. From what I hear, Explore & More has an encased example of a real nut. Bounce Magic has an eating area, I’ve never checked it out for myself.
What ever you do – HAVE FUN!!! And call ahead!!!
